We're Pear Software and Services. We build pearOS — the Linux desktop we always wished existed.
Most Linux desktops still make you choose between looking good and staying in control. pearOS is built on KDE Plasma, for the flexibility and design freedom it gives us, then reshaped into a real menu bar and dock — the same look, whichever base you build it on: Arch, Debian, or (soon) BSD.
We've spent years distro-hopping — GNOME, KDE, Cinnamon, i3 — loving parts of each, fighting the rest. Every desktop ends up feeling unfinished somewhere, patched together from mismatched pieces. We wanted pearOS to feel finished everywhere: a real menu bar, a real dock, and a system that gets out of your way.
We started building pearOS in 2017 and launched it in 2019. NiceC0re, the flagship build, followed a couple of years later. Every release is still built from scratch, mostly by one person, with a community that cares more about getting the desktop right than shipping fast.
