BSD Build
The most experimental pearOS build — the same look and feel on a BSD base. In active, early development and not yet ready for daily use.
What's planned
Nothing here is final, and it can change before it ships — but here's the direction the BSD build is headed.
Soda DE
A desktop environment built from scratch for the BSD build, rather than a theme layered over an existing one.
Carbonate Compositor
The display server and compositor driving Soda DE, built to keep the desktop smooth and responsive.
Immutable base
A read-only, atomically-updated system base — updates apply as a whole, and a bad update can be rolled back.
System Integrity Protection
Core system paths are protected even from root, so apps and users can't quietly modify the base system.
Quick Connect
One-tap pairing for networks and nearby devices, without digging through settings menus.
A familiar filesystem layout
An Apple-inspired layout — /System and /Applications — with support for .app bundles, and more on the way.
…and plenty more we're not ready to talk about yet.
